Earth's one and only natural satellite have many secrets which are to be revealed. Our moon in ancient times was suitable to support life twice ,one 4 billion years ago and again in 3.5 billion years ago suggested by a study at Washington state University.
According to the study it is believed that meteorites from earth with living cells and microbes were carried to the Moon. This was published in the Monday edition of journal Astrobiology.
Two planetary scientists have stated in there study that during landing of meteorites on Moon created heat enough to melt ice water in the surface of the moon in water vapours and gases which spewed out from the moon surface and form water pools on moon.
The study also stated that there was also stable atmosphere at that time with magnetic field wrapping whole moon enough to safeguard organisms on the moon from solar winds.
Dirk Schulze Makuch an astrobiologist at Washington State University said that "There could have actually been microbes thriving in water pools on the moon until the surface became dry and dead."
Dirk Schulze Makuch wrote this study with Ian Crawford who is professor of planetary science and astrobiology at University of London.
Both of them hope that future mission of space agencies of many countries which are focused on moon mission will prove there study is right.
Reportedly many space agencies of countries like USA, India, China are planning there next mission to moon.
These kind of studies can help in forming future space station on moon and who knows that one day we could able to terraform moon and can make it once again a habitable planet.
One more thing that this study proves that there are numerous possibilities of an alien life in our universe.
